Emotion cards for kids
Client work

Summary: Playful emotion cards inspire children to move and teach how to deal with emotions through relatable stories. Each card includes part of a story and illustration of a story. These illustrations are made for thesis made by Hanna Huuhko, Hanna Sivonen and Emilia Markkanen (A Bachelor of Social Services, Early Childhood). Ideation and storytelling are made by Hanna H., Hanna S. and Emilia. Next illustrations and visual appearance of the cards are designed by me. There was also other illustrator alongside of me, Hanna Kulmala, but we worked separately. I made illustrations for two different stories, seven illustrations in total. These stories have different visual styles.
Link to the thesis is coming when it is ready!

Problem: While making illustrations for kids, it is important to pay attention for colors. Colors must be playful and interesting, so children have patience to look at the illustrations. Emotions, facial expressions and body language of the characters must be clear and easy to understand.

Solution: Searching knowledge about colors and colors theories, emotion and character sketches

Team: Writers Hanna Huuhko, Hanna Sivonen and Emilia Markkanen, Illustrators Henna Leinonen and Hanna Kulmala
